???Welcome to the second part in this Discover Your Style series to gain style clarity.
You are going to create a style profile that includes a framework of how your style looks and a style statement that describes your personal style.
You already created a style vision board in the first challenge with beautiful images of clothing you want to wear. If you have not finished yet, keep working on it before starting this challenge.
Edit Your Style Inspiration
Review your style vision board and edit it to reflect only the things you really love and want to wear.
It?s time to answer a few questions.
? What do you love about fashion?
? What do you wear that makes you happy?
? What do you want to wear, but don?t?
Are these things reflected on your style vision board? If not, go back and add the things that bring you joy.
Create a Style Profile
Grab a notebook to use as a journal to write notes about your style as you begin to create your style profile.
Writing in your journal keeps you focused and helps you see a clear pattern about what you love to wear.
Complete these exercises to create a framework that describes the elements that are a part of your style and how you want to look.
? Describe the common theme of your style inspiration.
? Write down what you love in your images. Be specific about colors, silhouettes, patterns, accessories and the details that attract you.
? List the key pieces that are repeated on your style board.
This is your style profile, so write your descriptions so they make sense to you.
Your Style Mix
The seven style archetypes are Natural, Classic, Elegant Chic, Romantic, Alluring, Dramatic and Creative.
But you are not just one style!
Your style is a combination of these styles that make you unique.
You?re probably seeing a mix of styles on your style vision board and the things in your journal, right? I?m a lot of classic with a splash of boho and a dash of romantic.
Your style mix will represent your essence, personality and individuality and it?s how you put your personal stamp on how you dress.
Describe Your Style
The last piece of your style profile is to craft a style statement that describes your style.
Looking at your style vision board and journal, gather words that describe you and your style mix.
? Note your primary style.
? Jot down all the styles represented on your style board.
? Write 5 ? 10 adjectives to describe your images or nouns that describe you.
Review your words and narrow down your list to a few that resonate with you and accurately represents your style.
Create your style statement. It will be your mission statement for dressing and shopping. Write it down to carry in your purse and post in your closet.
Before you buy something or put on an outfit, ask yourself, ?Does this fit my style profile??
My Style Profile
I thought it might be helpful to share an example of part of my style profile.
My style includes some of the following key pieces:
Slim and sleek silhouettes
Classic clean lines in better fabrics
Colorful clothing and accessories
Interesting or unusual details (nothing too plain)
Creative touches
Long soft layers
Sporty jackets
Cute shoes
Curving and moving patterns (nothing too straight)
An influence of boho
A bit of softness with a little lace or ruffles (but not too much)
Nothing too masculine or too ?sweet? and girly
Comfortable and not too fussy
My style statement is creatively classic with timeless, interesting and colorful outfits.
Using these tips, you can create a style profile that describes how your style looks and defines your style to use for shopping, dressing and creating outfits. You will be one step closer to understanding your personal style.
